The 9th day of the IWF World Championships started with the competitions of the male weightlifters in 102 kg weight category.
Chinese weightlifter Yang Zhe managed to lift 196 kg in snatch and was awarded a gold medal. Armenian weightlifter Simon Martirosyan was not successful with his second attempt to lift 197 kg, but won the silver medal, lifting 195 kg. Rodion Bochkov, weightlifter from Russia, lifted 190 kg and earned a bronze medal.
Simon Martirosyan performed overwhelmingly in clean and jerk, lifted 240 kg and won the gold medal. At the same time, he renewed the senior world record. Polish weightlifter Arkadiusz Michalski was able to lift 228 kg and won the silver medal. Ruslan Nurudinov lifted 227 kg and was awarded a bronze medal.
Simon Martirosyan demonstrated an impressive performance and was the first with the total result (435 kg). At the same time, he renewed senior world record and earned his first world champion title. Yang Zhe managed to lift 419 kg in total and was awarded a silver medal. Michalski Arkadiusz won the bronze medal, lifting 403 kg.
Olympic champion Ruslan Nurudinov from Uzbekistan was considered to be the main candidate for the gold medal. But his performance was not very successful in these Championships. Anyways, Ruslan managed to bring a bronze medal to his team.
